Is technology indeed
important in the teaching field , or is it enough with the competence teachers
should have to achieve an effective teaching learning process ?
Some educators from the
last decades have their own opinion regarding to this question. They argue that
technology is not necessary at all ; due to the fact that in the past, there
was no technology in the schools and students used to learn just without it.
According to them, they just need to have the right competence to be successful
in this area; while others do not share the same opinion. Some teachers say
that technology is making lazy students and it is somehow risky to have some of
them cheating on online evaluations.
In the case of language
teachers, most of them agree on the use of technology in the class. They see
the difference between those who have been taught through long boring lectures
and the ones that learn by using audio visual aids. These educators have
observed that technology has accelerated the learning process and their
students have felt comfortable by learning through the use of these resources.
Moreover, whenever it´s
necessary , technology gets students in real settings ,so it gives the chance
to be in contact with the target language; while in the past, there were no
books ,no audio ,no computers nor internet access to talk to someone through a
video call like up to date. So it is seen that these kind of resources help
teachers a lot to work with heterogeneous groups by taking into account their learning
styles.
Schools teachers of other subjects, also say that throughout the use of the overhead projector, they get more the students attention, rather than giving a long lecture. Having students see documentaries through videos, can let those students who have problems interpreting texts ,to retain and understand the information easily because they are got into a different way of learning when they see and listen to something that in a way could be their learning style.

In additions to this,
technology is not only enclosed in a television, a computer or other electronic
gadget. It has to do with all necessary resources and appropriate materials
educators might use in the classroom or virtual classrooms throughout sequences
of teaching sessions in order to make the teaching learning process easier and
effective.
All in all, if the reader analyzes
this carefully, it can be said that technology is indeed necessary in the
teaching of any subject in the schools or virtual education as well. Teachers
must take into account the constructivism theory and connectivism to choose the best techniques, methodologies
and strategies to achieve a good teaching learning process. If technology is
not used in the classroom, if institutions do not get the right didactic
resources, nor technology is being used by educators, they are being fossilized
and stuck in the old teaching style which will stop students to enhance
the acquisition of knowledge of any subject matter. That is why .now a days
technology is necessary to have better students ,with better knowledge and
critical thinking that will let them be more useful and productive in their
societies.
